Tourmakeady GAA was founded in 1965 and has achieved many accolades over the years –winning both Junior & Intermediate championships.
Many of its players have represented Mayo at county level in both men’s and ladies football.
The club was recipient of “Best Club grounds in 2017” from Connacht GAA. With the help of Community Finance Ireland Loan Finance the club refurbished their dressing rooms, built a new Sports Hall including a fully equipped Gym, a new training pitch, outdoor skills wall, car park and a pedestrian walkway.
“It’s a very small isolated area. We used to have a small clubhouse with two rooms, now we have an indoor sports hall, people playing basketball, using the gym. We probably have the best facilities in the county right now. It’s busier here than any of the pubs in the area.”
